DestroyHer is a fierce, urgent, and deeply personal new album from Kinnie Starr — a genre-blending, grief-lit dispatch from the rain-soaked edge of Haida Gwaii.

Across ten tracks, Starr delivers one of the most vulnerable and forceful works of her three-decade career. Known as a brazen, resilient, and fervent chronicler of life, she brings her signature mix of bass-heavy beats, raw riffs, spoken-word poetics, melody, humour, and unflinching social commentary to an album shaped by grief, ecological crisis, colonial violence, technological overload, and survival.

DestroyHer responds to a moment when the effects of humankind and technology are pressing against the natural world, society, and the soul. Songs like “Rule of Land 1997,” “DESTROYER,” “Dirty Oil Industry,” “This is GCide,” and “Waters: Redux feat. Julian Taylor” confront land, water, law, extraction, climate denial, and the normalization of environmental crisis. 

“Put The Phone Down” turns sharp humour toward digital addiction and the contradictions of online culture. 

At the album’s emotional centre are three interconnected songs written in the aftermath of profound personal loss. “Get Away (R.I.P. CStarr),” “No Way Club (For CStarr),” and “Young and Beautiful Forever (R.I.P. CStarr)” speak to grief, addiction stigma, shame, silence, and the kind of love that keeps reaching anyway.

Produced with a close creative circle including Kinnie Starr, Lin Gardiner, Elisa Pangsaeng, Rob Chursinoff, Marlow Holder, Clef Seeley, Julian Taylor, Diana Hellson and Hluugitgaa Gwaai Edenshaw, DestroyHer is both a protest record and a healing documentation. It is a work of witness, mourning, resistance, and repair — rooted in land, water, community, and the ferocity of love.
